Hello everybody!
Today I had orientation. A lot is different here. Crazy stuff. Too much to write right now, I'' explain more later...
I met three new friend from Paris: Julie, Clara and Peirre. All great people. Peirre and I really get along very well. We talked for like 2 hours over dinner. He kept asking me what we thought of France, and I said people don't like France too much. I told him we call them wussies and pansies. He laughed and was like "Ahhh we get zat alot." And then he asked, "What did you think of Chirac not supporting American in Iraq." I said, oh, people were pissed about it. Saying, we bailed you out in WWII. And he threw his hands up laughing and said, "OH MY GOD, STILL WIT ZE WORLD WAR TWO!" We then talked about politics in the US, and he told me him and many French people support us going into Afghanistan. He says he wishes we would have went there first. He said people in France just like to feud with America because it's fun to do. We also talked about soccer. He said the French people don't understand why there are only 2 white guys on the entire team. He also said they still think they were cheated in the last World Cup and the Ireland game was just payback for that. We then asked him what they thought of Lance Armstrong. Peirre said he is innocent until he is proven guilty. He said he understands that he had "ze ball cancer" and he probably was taking medicine for that, which was banned in cycling. Jeramie said, "He iz a cheater." And Julie said, "I think everyone in ze sport does it." I've always wanted to know a French persons perspective on Lance Armstrong.
After dinner I went back to the apartment and chilled a little bit. Then Jeramie and I went over to Peirre's and drank for a little bit with the Penn State girls. It was a good time. After that we went to the pub on campus and shared a couple pints and danced with all the other Americans. The DJ wouldn't play "Down" by J-Sean because "It wasn't upbeat enough." What the hell? Then some doucher Irish guy tried to sexually harass one of our Penn State girls and there was almost a fight because I was pissed.
Now I'm just back chatting away on Facebook and Skype.
Oh, by the way...
I WAS ACCEPTED INTO TEACH FOR AMERICA!
Wow. I've been waiting for what seems like forever for this. I'm going to be teaching elementary school in San Antonio starting fall 2010! I'm so excited! I feel like a champion. Like I won a huge prize! Wow, what a weight off my shoulders!
Ok, I'm going to bed!
San Antonio! Don't know anything about it! But awesome!
